A 35-year-old Canadian woman has died after falling ill during the opening day of Tomorrowland 2025 in Boom, Belgium. The festival, already reeling from a massive main stage fire just days before, now faces another heartbreaking setback.
Tomorrowland released a statement expressing deep sorrow:
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation, and we will share updates as they become available.”
This tragedy follows another major incident—the burning down of Tomorrowland’s iconic main stage just two days before the festival’s opening. While no injuries were reported from the fire, the festival had to rebuild the stage overnight, using borrowed equipment from Metallica’s M72 World Tour and emergency assistance from production partners.
Despite the challenges, Tomorrowland proceeded with its first weekend, drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees. The second weekend is set to begin this Friday, July 25.
This incident raises urgent questions about health and safety at large-scale festivals, especially after extreme weather, drug-related incidents, and structural failures at events worldwide in recent years.
Fans and artists have taken to social media to express condolences, with many calling for better medical support at major events.
As investigations continue, the electronic music world waits for answers—hoping for both justice for the victim and safer experiences for festival-goers in the future.
Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends.
