In a significant move within the music industry, Kevin Parker, the creative force behind Tame Impala, has sold his entire music catalog to Sony Music Publishing. This deal, which includes both past and future releases, marks a substantial expansion of Parker's existing partnership with Sony, which began in 2020. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, but the strategic significance is clear: Sony now holds the rights to a body of work that spans Parker’s prolific career, from Tame Impala's early hits to his latest projects.
Reflecting on the deal, Parker emphasized the gravity of passing on ownership of his songs, describing them as the culmination of his blood, sweat, and creative energy. Despite the emotional weight of this decision, Parker expressed confidence in Sony Music Publishing's ability to manage his catalog with care and respect.
