If you’ve been on social media for the past few months, odds are you’ve probably heard of the iconic viral hit, “Leave The Door Open” by Silk Sonic on just about every corner of the internet.
Silk Sonic is a collaborative project comprised of artists, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak who’ve fully committed to their seventies look and act, and their sound is unique from a lot of the popular hits we hear today. It’s smooth, funky, and puts you into a full body listening experience. .Paak and Mars deliver effortless vocals that are so comforting, sending us into the nostalgia of remembering the tunes our parents would play over and over on the car radio.
This was their third award, along with Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song. The competition for Record of The Year was strong, with frontrunners Billie Eilish (Happier Than Ever), Olivia Rodrigo (Driver’s License), and SZA and Doja Cat (Kiss Me More), still Silk Sonic rose to the top, and given the song’s popularity over the past few months, there’s no doubt why “Leave The Door Open” was such a strong contender, and a well-deserved win for Silk Sonic.
