Katseye is a new global girl band that was formed in 2023 under the Hybe and Geffen records under the Dream Academy project. A final 5 member lineup was confirmed as the result of the girl group. Their newest single “Gabriela,” was released on June 20, 2025.
This new song embodies the mixture of the concepts of modern pop and Latin music blended to create a perfect melody for summer.
The Telenovela Inspired Music Video
The music video for the song embodies a dramatic telenovela-inspired story. The music video features Jessica Alba as a CEO who wants to pick a new “Gabriela,” referring to a competitive occupation position within her company. In the music video, the girls compete with one another attempting to take the new position as Gabriela themselves.
Experimentation with Different Genres
Gabriela is a unique track that showcases Katseye’s versatility as this was a very bold and new concept that they had not touched before. The song opens up with an acoustic guitar with a Latin-inspired melody, with the smooth vocalizing melodies sung by the Kayseye members. Lyrically, this song is a melodic letter to a certain type of person who would be classified as a “Gabriela.” Gabriela is also referred as to the “other woman,” as she would manage to take away one’s partner. Gabriela is supposedly charming, charismatic, irresistible, and magnetic as she can take away anyone’s partner, even though you are afraid of her, you are also kind of obsessed with her. The lyrics “Hands off Gabriela, back off Gabriela, cause ooh, you can have anyone else you wanted to I’m begging you, hands off Gabriela” refers to the pleading that one may do, as they see Gabriela look in their partner’s direction planning to take them away.
Reactions to Gabriela
Gabriela, the latest Katseye single, kindled quite a lot of engagement and praise from fans. Fans exerted their feelings about Gabriela praising it for the unique melody, harmonizing vocals, and the alluring Spanish lyric bit. People are flooding different media platforms exclaiming the enticing and captivating various genres of music that Katseye explores with every new comeback bringing a sense of excitement amongst the fans, getting them to keep on guessing what kind of music will come next.
Gabriela as a Summer Pop Anthem
Katseye’s experimentation with their musical genres leads to great anticipation amongst fans and spikes interest in casual listeners as to what type of music they will possibly come out with next. Currently, Gabriela takes the crown for being a classic summer pop anthem that explores Latin themes and features catchy acoustic guitars, and a blend of beautiful vocal melodies.
